BiographyOne of Vahid Vahed’s most significant achievement in the field of Community Cultural Development as a film and television producer, lecturer, multimedia artist, project facilitator, MAO and Founder/Artistic Director of Auburn International Film and Video Festival for Children and Young Adults (est.98) and CINEWEST multimedia (est. 99) has been the process and the outcome of establishing CCD infrastructures for ongoing projects and practices locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Also, presentation and promotion of specific CCD projects to reach wider audiences and breaking out of CCD stereotyped parameters to parallel mainstream have been amongst other significant achievements for me in the past 10 years. Through a series of multimedia CCD projects aimed at specific communities (children and youth), I have managed to implement community participation and ownership in the ongoing nature of the practice. Another great achievement for me in the field of CCD has been the community response to multimedia and screen culture activities, especially among children and youth. Even though absence of facilities and constant shifts in social, cultural, economical and political perspectives and circumstances in Australia as well as other countries determine the outcome of CCD practices but particular CCD projects will always be evolving to address issues of the day globally. During (November 2001) Cinewest multimedia presentation & promotion in Mar del Plata, Argentine, and ‘Latin Curators Collective' was initiated to form a group of young Latin image-makers to produce, present and distribute works that is created outside of the mainstream boundaries. |
